Jolan Marchese

Senior Security Consultant

Ms. Marchese is a seasoned professional with a robust background in the utility industry, specializing in cybersecurity and compliance since 2016. Ms. Marchese joined NST in 2024 and her work entails the development, testing, and implementation of CIP Compliance programs.

She possesses strong access management skills and an in-depth knowledge of change management, which she has effectively trained and implemented. Ms. Marchese has coordinated complex patch management processes and assisted with the development of a comprehensive supply chain management program. In addition to her technical expertise, she has administered Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools and managed multiple cybersecurity projects, driving the successful implementation of various cyber tools. Her multidisciplinary approach and leadership have consistently delivered practical, secure, and efficient solutions, making her an invaluable asset in the industry.

Earlier in Career

Ms. Marchese began her professional journey as a high school English teacher before transitioning to the utility sector. Her career quickly evolved as she took on roles in Asset Management, Engineering, Operational Technology Compliance and ultimately, NERC CIP Manager for multiple operating companies in the Northeast. In these roles, she excelled in coordinating procedure updates, developing RSAW narratives and appropriate documents, and representing her organizations in multiple audits.

In recent years, Ms. Marchese took a position within an organization that was in the process of standing up a new compliance program. She led several major projects centered upon the implementation of various critical tools including AssurX, Tripwire, Jira, Nessus, SEP, and Splunk. Once the tools were implemented, she worked closely with subject matter experts to provide ample training and support to ensure that all systems were properly identified and baselined before going live. Her broad and varied experience has given her a profound understanding of the complexities and interdependencies of NERC CIP Standards, enabling her to develop and implement appropriate and enduring compliance solutions.

Education

Ms. Marchese has a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity Intelligence.

Extra Curriculars

Ms. Marchese has a passion for reading and writing that has led her to publication of several short stories. She is currently in the process of writing a novel.
